Want to know more about me? Here are 11 random things you should know!
#1 I started my business after I told someone that I created budgets for fun… and when I was bored.
I had a job I was not thrilled with, so to pass the time, I would create these elaborate spreadsheets that calculated everything from my pay stub, how much I needed for an early retirement, and how much to pay in taxes. I was always within a couple of hundred dollars of my accountant. Yep! This is what I did when I was bored and wanted to pass away hours!
#2 No. I am not an accountant, nor a bookkeeper.
Sorry. Math is not regulated to only those peeps! I have a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and Master’s degree in Systems Engineering. I promise, I took enough math to cover you, me, and your kids for at least the next 22 years!
#3 I spent a few years as a professional cheerleader.
Computer scientist by day, cheerleader by night. It is safe to say that you will not be able to call me a strict left brain, right brain person. It took my dad to point out that I was a bit ‘unusual’ at my day job, because of the many creative things I did in my off time. By the way… I am, and will always be, a baton twirler. My first creative love!
#4 I spent many, many years sucking at money.
The best way to become and expert is to learn by experience. Trust me… I learned way to much about money by sucking at it. After years of getting paid a lot, and spending like crazy, I got my crap together and realized that I was the problem in my money… not my budget.
#5 I love the color red.
They say red is the color of ‘energy, passion, and action.’ I cannot say I have a deeper meaning for why I like it, but I have to have something red around me.
#6 I live by a quote from Mark Twain.
“Twenty years from now, you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the things you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.”
#7 I ‘retired’ from my job at the age of 36.
Leaving a job, with a paycheck, and benefits… can have people close to you calling you crazy. I guess I was crazy, because something bigger was calling me. Thank goodness all of that number crunching paid off!
#8 My favorite city in the world is London.
I have dedicated a chunk of my life to seeing and experiencing the world and my favorite city is London, England. I love the clash of cultures, the history, and just enjoying the environment when walking around. I love to travel and love planning to travel. In 2016, I will be going to Brazil to experience the Olympics. I had plans to go when it was in London… but my husband proposed, so I chose marriage instead! I love him, but there were a lot of travel tears shed!
#9 I like to read the occasional Batman and Robin comic book.
It all started with Teen Titans and becoming a fan of Dick Grayson.
#10 I absolutely LOVE what I do.
I love working with passionate female business owners and seeing their confidence bloom, by tackling something so personal and emotional such as money. Since I know what it is like to be so caring about your clients future, I thrive off of letting them know I really care about their success when it comes to business and money.
#11 I hope we can have fun and dream together.
You + Me = A strategy for world domination. If that is too much, a bottle of wine will do.
